Xfinity by Comcast is bringing its customers in The District of Columbia a new experience.  The Gallery Place Chinatown location makes the third store Xfinity has brought to The District. The grand opening of Studio Xfinity on 715 7thst, NW attracted large amounts of the community, sports fans, politicians, and former football players were just a few of those in attendance yesterday afternoon.

Fingers snapping, feet tapping, and singers doo-wopping, make for an evening of fun entertainment as Live Garra Theatre’s production of Fool in Love: The Frankie Lymon Story, which chronicles the life of the teenage sensation who wowed the world with his high-pitched voice, before disappearing into a life of sex and drugs, and then dying of an overdose at the age of 25.

Hargrove is indeed one of the baddest cats ever to pick up a trumpet. He is a bop man, but he can also do big band music, soul, hip-hop-inspired stuff, and has even dabbled in the complicated dynamic known as M-Base. He also wrote what I consider possibly the greatest jazz tune of the 21st century, “Strasbourg/St. Denis.” And he’s playing six nights this week at Blues Alley.
